by Josef Hartwig
In 1923, Josef Hartwig designed these chess figures in the Bauhaus workshop in Weimar. The figures are characterized by clear, timeless contouring with reduced forms. The new interpretation of the contouring – cube, cylinder and balls – lead to checkmate. The figures are delivered with a valuable box (without chess board).> Playing figures: 32 figures made of wood, Measurements of box: 44 x 7.5 x 4.5 cm
