Eileen Gray, born in 1878, is considered a pioneer of the modern age. She was born in Ireland but also spent a large part of her life in France. Her work is attributed to Art Deco as well as modernity. This is due to the fact that she initially created classic furniture and oriental art, but in the 20’s went on to design some of the most important pieces of modern functionalism. Incidentally, in contrast to many other designers, Gray worked alone - most of her designs were only produced on a small scale and were often sold by her to the customers directly. The House E.1027, a total work of art, designed by Gray, became famous and contained some of her most significant designs.

The Bibendum chair was designed by Gray for the furnishing of the Rue le Lota (in Paris). It was designed at the beginning of the 30’s and was used there in an (“eindrungsvollen”?) interior with her Art Deco furniture. All of Eileen Gray’s work is manufactured by ClassiCon under the license of Aram Designs Limited.

Construction: frame chrome-plated steel pipe (with ClassiCon signature), cover leather in white, red and black (other colors on request)
