George Nakashima’s early designs have some Japanese influence as you may notice in the case of this table (Nakashima was American with Japanese heritage). After his work for Knoll International, Nakashima designed a collection for Widdikomb and later he was only creating furniture in his own workshop.

The tray is a design by Mira Nakashima, George Nakashima’s daughter, who is cultivating and continuing his work today. The tray made of douglas spruce is based on George Nakashima’s Splay-Leg table design. The tray is available with a Santos Palisander or wenge border (photo below).
