Antonio Gaudi was born in 1852 and was certainly the most well known and influential architect of Spain. His constructions and extraordinary architectural works were worldwide sensations. His holistic approach to architecture prompted Gaudi to concern himself with the furniture and decorative elements of his buildings. Today, some of Gaudi’s designs, which had almost been forgotten, are being manufactured again in the same materials and richness of detail as was conceived in the originals. For the house of Batlló, one of the most emblematic constructions of Barcelona, built by Gaudi in 1906, this chair of the same name was designed.
